SUMMARY:Olympic National Park Photo Workshop
DESCRIPTION:We’ll visit locations such as the Hoh Rainforest\, Hurricane Ridge\, The Sol Duc Valley\, Ruby Beach\, and many more during our workshop. Having visited and conducted many workshops in the park over the past 23 years\, we know some secret locations! The diversity of the ecosystems in such proximity makes this one of the most desirable areas on earth to photograph. \nThis is a great time of year to be at Olympic NP. Typically\, we have a little rain which enhances the beautiful Spring greens as well as some evenings with magnificent sunsets along the Olympic Coastline. At Olympic NP we have lush rainforests\, rugged log lined coastlines and majestic mountains. Few locations offer such diversity. \nWe’ll meet in Forks\, Washington on the evening of April27th at 6pm in the hotel lobby to get to know each other\, go over itineraries and discuss our objectives for the workshop. \nMore details regarding travel\, what to bring\, and accommodation will be sent to you after registration. Accommodation is not included in the workshop cost. Click here if you want to know what we’ll be working on\, and click here for general information on what to bring. \n\nPLEASE NOTE: This workshop is part of the Photograph the Pacific Northwest series\, a collaboration between Jack Graham and John Pedersen to highlight the magnificent beauty of the PNW through in-depth workshops at some of the most iconic and beautiful locations. \n\nPURCHASE WORKSHOP & REGISTRATIONWorkshop Purchase and Registration is transacted through JohnPedersenPhoto.com \n\nThank you for your interest!!!!

SUMMARY:Winter in the Tetons
DESCRIPTION:Nothing says Wyoming like the Grand Teton National Park\, located just outside Jackson Hole. At this time of year\, the Christmas decorations are up but the crowds haven’t arrived yet and it’s a perfect time for a photo workshop! \nExperience the Tetons on this amazing winter photo workshop! We will spend 3 ½ days exploring Teton National Park in winter. The snow-capped mountains of the Grand Teton range will be visible from the famous Snake River locations we’ll photograph from. Plus\, much like Yellowstone\, wildlife is common – we often see moose\, elk\, trumpeter swans\, buffalo and coyotes. And in the winter\, the wildlife is down from the high country and much more active as they forage for food. We will photograph the snow capped mountains of the Tetons range\, rustic cabins\, meandering creeks and rivers\, plus many other fantastic sights. Join us for this stunning winter adventure! \nWe will base our workshop out of Jackson Wyoming which is just a short distance from the park. We will spend our days photographing the landscapes and winter scenes and hunting for the ideal wildlife images. Plus\, we will spend a little time doing image reviews/learning as time and weather permits. \nPlease note that although the workshop starts at sunrise on December 2\, we will meet in Jackson Hole\, WY on the evening of December 1 for an hour or so to go over itineraries\, travel\, and workshop goals. \nMore details regarding travel\, what to bring\, and accommodation will be sent to you after registration. Lodging is not included in the workshop cost. \nMore details regarding travel\, what to bring\, and accommodation will be sent to you after registration. SUMMARY:Fall Monochrome Photo Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Monochrome Photography Workshop\nPacific Northwest Art School \nWhidbey Island\, WA\nNovember 12-14\, 2020\n$500 per person \nFor many photographer’s color presents a lot of challenges. In many images\, the use of monochrome brings out the shapes and textures stronger than color.  Perhaps it’s that in many images color can be distracting and taking away the drama of the scene. In monochrome photography\, one can adjust the brightness\, shadows and contrast to their individual liking\, just as we can with color\, but the unexpected\, monochrome\, is often stronger and evokes far different responses to the viewer than color images do. We’ll delve into why and how to make the most of monochrome imagery. \nTo many\, monochrome delivers a different feeling since our everyday world is made up of colors. SUMMARY:Palouse Harvest Photo Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The rolling hills of wheat\, barley\, lentils and canola with country roads punctuated by over 100-year-old barns lends itself to a photographer’s paradise. The subject matter is endless.  The harvest season in the Palouse is a unique experience and is not often photographed\, most folks choosing the Spring.  All of the great features of the Palouse are there\, just in different shades of color.  Instead of greens\, there are golds and yellows and browns!  Endless variations of color along with the amazing shapes of the hills make this an incredible photographic opportunity.  \nThe “Palouse” area is located in Southeastern Washington where the major towns are Pullman\, Washington and Moscow\, Idaho. The Palouse is fairly remote. It’s not a tourist destination\, but during the spring and summer there are usually many photographers. \n  \n\nPLEASE NOTE: This workshop is part of the Photograph the Pacific Northwest series\, a collaboration between Jack Graham and John Pedersen to highlight the magnificent beauty of the PNW through in-depth workshops at some of the most iconic and beautiful locations.   \nImages courtesy of Bill Course Photography \n\nPURCHASE WORKSHOP & REGISTRATIONWorkshop Purchase and Registration is transacted through JohnPedersenPhoto.com \n\nCOVID UPDATE: We are continually monitoring the COVID situation and adjusting the planning for 2021 workshops accordingly to keep everyone safe based upon the spread of the disease.  Please click here to read our workshop statement relating to COVID

SUMMARY:Central Oregon Coast Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Explore an intimate Oregon coast experience! Join myself and John Pedersen for an intensive few days along the Oregon Coast to capture the moods and personality of this amazing coastline in this photo workshop. Instead of visiting dozens of locations\, we will focus our time in a few areas that are rich with photographic opportunities. The workshop will be based out of Yachats and we will focus our time and creative energy on locations around Yachats\, from south of Yachats at Cape Perpetua (Thors Well) to Newport (lighthouse and fishing fleet). We will visit several locations more than once so that we can become attuned to the location and create more compelling images through repeated exposure to the tides and moods of the area. We will conduct several image reviews along with educational sessions during the workshop to help elevate our creative vision and technical skills in capturing this magnificent landscape. \nWe will focus on much more than the grand landscapes in this workshop….I will work with each attendee to focus their vision to tell a more compelling story with each and every image. Using telephoto lenses to isolate and simplify\, shooting intimate nature images\, macros/close-ups…we’ll do it all in this workshop. By the end of our time together\, my goal is that each person has learned a great deal about creativity\, photography and has had a fantastic experience in this amazing setting. \nWe will be at the right place\, at the right time to capture some amazing images\, found only on the Oregon cast while honing out photographic skills. Specific locations have been determined by years of experience. We’ll visit some of the well-known\, iconic places\, as well as many places off the beaten path. The Oregon Coast workshops are perhaps my most anticipated. The Oregon Coast contains some of the most varied\, unique areas. Because of its remote beaches and tide pools\, rocky coastline with majestic sea stacks and dramatic sunsets\, this area offers great and different photographic experiences at every turn. \n\n  \nPURCHASE WORKSHOP & REGISTRATIONWorkshop Purchase and Registration is transacted through JohnPedersenPhoto.com \n\nCOVID UPDATE: We are continually monitoring the COVID situation and adjusting the planning for 2021 workshops accordingly to keep everyone safe based upon the spread of the disease.  Please click here to read our workshop statement relating to COVID

It’s not a tourist destination but during the spring and summer there are usually many photographers. \nWORKSHOP DETAILS\nThis workshop typically sells out early and often has a waiting list. This is not a physically taxing or strenuous workshop since most locations are on paths or along the roadside. \nJune is prime time for the rolling fields of different shades of green. The Palouse is a great area to develop photographic skills because light and pattern considerations are incredibly important here. The aim is to make images that portray depth\, surprise and drama\, while using leading lines\, foregrounds and other graphic elements. I will warn you\, photography in this area isn’t as easy as you may think\, but that also makes it one of the best places to take your skills to the next level. Few people have visit The Palouse which means there are few photographic icons. This also means that personal vision becomes incredibly important. \nEXTRA ADDED ATTRACTION (not officially part of our workshop!): I’ll be heading north of Colfax by about 45 minutes on the morning the day before the workshop begins (around 8 am)\, going up to Sprague\, Washington to photograph the old trucks in Dave’s Old Truck Rescue. You are welcome to tag along. I’ll be returning to Colfax around noon. Please let me know if you are joining me. If you are\, please arrive the day before. There is no extra charge for this excursion. \nWe will have a meet and greet on June 2nd at 5 pm. We’ll get to know each other\, go over itineraries and workshop goals\, then have a quick dinner before heading up to Steptoe Butte for a sunset shoot. Our workshop ends after our sunrise location on Sunday\, affording you the time to travel home.   \nAll of our workshops will be attended by owners of the Fujifilm “X” System cameras and lenses. SUMMARY:SOLD OUT!! Spring in the Sonoran Desert
DESCRIPTION:THIS WORKSHOP IS SOLD OUT. \nWORKSHOP LEADER:  JOHN PEDERSEN \nSpring is an amazing time to be in Arizona\, when spectacular wildflower blooms erupt\, typically in late February and early March. This\, in conjunction with the amazing Sonoran Desert Landscape\, makes this workshop a special event. \nFew locations and workshops can offer landscape\, wildflower and macro photographical opportunities as in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. We will visit some of favorite (and some secret) locations during our time together. \n\nThank you for your interest in this workshop. My able workshop partner\, John Pedersen\, will be taking my place as Workshop Leader. John has been assisting me for 3 years now. He is well-schooled in the locations you’ll be visiting as well as a master “teacher” in the kind of photography we all enjoy.  He teaches the same way I do and offers additional viewpoints on photography that I think you’ll enjoy. I have total confidence and trust in John — not only professionally\, but as a person. You’ll love having him leading your workshops. Bottom line\, you are in the best of hands.\nThanks again\,\nJack Graham Photography\n\n  \n  \n  \nWORKSHOP DETAILS \nThe Sonoran Desert is home to mountain ranges\, lowlands\, rivers\, washes\, trees\, cacti and interesting colorful rock formations. Combine these features with the annual wildflower bloom and we can expect to use both components to make images available in few locations throughout the world. \nWe will also venture south to photograph the plants within Picacho Peak State Park. They include mesquite\, palo verde and acacia trees; Crucifixion thorn\, ocotillo\, cholla\, prickly pear and saguaro cactus. In good years\, mexican poppies and lupine cover the hillsides. \nNear Tucson\, within Saguaro National Park\, we’ll capture the icon of the Sonoran Desert — the giant Saguaros. These enormous cacti\, silhouetted by the setting sun\, for most of us depict the classic symbol of the American West. These majestic plants are found in only a small portion of the United States. Saguaro National Park protects some of the most impressive forests of these sub-tropical giants\, on the edge of the modern City of Tucson. \n  \nAlso near Tucson we’ll visit a National Historic Landmark\, San Xavier del Bac Mission\, founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797.  The oldest intact European structure in Arizona\, the churches interior is filled with marvelous original statuary and mural paintings. It is a place where visitors can truly step back in time and enter an authentic 18th Century space.   The church retains its original purpose of ministering to the religious needs of its parishioners. \nSpring in the Sonoran Desert is like nowhere else. I am sure you’ll come away with some great images\, lots of photographic information and many new friends! \n

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT! Icelandic Winter Photography Adventures
DESCRIPTION:WORKSHOP LEADER: JOHN PEDERSEN. \nThis workshop is sold out.  (Normal\, Domestic US Jack Graham Workshop Discounts DO NOT Apply on International Workshops) \nThe workshop dates are set considering the moon phases\, assuring the best time for aurora photography. Iceland is like nowhere else … a place of contrasts and a photographer’s paradise. \nWe have all seen images of the amazing landscape of Iceland. Capturing this location in winter is even more special. This workshop will be led by myself and world-class\, award-winning photographer and Icelandic resident Örvar Thorgeirsson. \nNot many photographers venture to Iceland during the winter months. We will experience locations rarely photographed during this time. The workshop dates are set taking into account the moon phases\, assuring the best time for aurora photography. The backdrop of the Icelandic landscape makes the aurora even more breathtaking. We will photograph the winter landscape including ice caves\, frozen lakes\, bucolic villages\, wild horses and the natural wonders of Iceland\, all with the backdrop of the Icelandic winter. \nWe will only be taking five participants on this workshop due to the logistics and challenges of winter photography. This offers participants an exceptional amount of personal time with us\, and will help you in making memorable images and growing as a photographer.  \nWhy do we go to Iceland during the winter? Other than for the experience of rare subject matter and locations\, we go for the long period of great light. The best light for photography during the day lasts for 6-7 hours\, most of which will produce an extremely soft\, low angle light. If conditions are good we will be shooting the auroras beginning around 8-9 pm for a few hours. Örvar is an expert on photographing the aurora … and you will be too after this workshop! \nIsn’t it dangerous to be in Iceland in the winter? In a word\, NO! Yes\, it will be cold and can be stormy\, but we will be well taken care of. You will be supplied with information on clothing and special needs to keep warm while in the field. While in Iceland\, you will be transported in well-equipped 4-wheel drive vehicles from location to location. We will be very safe. \nMost of our shooting locations are within no more than 15 minutes from the car and we will not be doing any long winter hikes. Although access to some locations\, such as the ice caves\, are a short walk which might include rough terrain\, we will be assisted by a professional mountain guide. Complete safety equipment (helmets\, etc.) is supplied by our guides. Slippery surfaces can be expected throughout the trip but we will send you recommendations regarding footwear. \nWEATHER CONSIDERATIONS\nWe’ll visit specific locations according to conditions. The January winter season can be stormy in Iceland. This makes for great imagery and is part of the allure and adventure of this trip. Temperatures are usually not as low as one may expect considering the latitude. Average temperatures are just below freezing. Some days with thaw and rain can be expected as well. The absolute minimum temperature will be -15°C (-5° f) but a typical clear winter day is about 5°C (25° f). The wind\, however\, makes the temperature feel colder. Being dressed with wind protection is important. We will suggest the proper clothing to bring along. \nLOCATION INFORMATION:\nComplete itineraries and details are already set and available for your review. Please email me for details. The following list contains just some of the locations we’ll visit depending on weather and light conditions. \n\nSeljalandsfoss\nSkógarfoss: Nice winter location. The low mid-day sun will light up the waterfall\nPinnacles of Vík: Both in the afternoon and morning from different sides\nFjaðurárglúfur river gorge: Nice winter location as the hopefully frozen river and walls are nicely lit in soft midday sun\nLómagnúpur: If conditions are good\, small ponds offer nice reflections\nOld snowed-in farm villages\, if it is snowy\nSkaftafell\, Svartifoss: Frozen waterfall; 20 min hikef\nSvínafellsjökull: Possible ice caves and a frozen lagoon\nHof: Nice little church snowed in\nBreiðarmerkurjökull: ice caves\, if there is little snow\nFjallsárjölull glacier lagoon: Nice background and offers possible walks on the ice amongst icebergs\nJökulsárlón and the beach: Especially nice in the soft winter light as it will light up the icebergs on the beach. Also the sun will set into the sea behind the icebergs\nJökulsárlón in the morning: Alpine glow on the Öræfajökull volcano in the background\nHoffelsjökull glacier lagoon: Possible to walk amongst the icebergs\n\nTRAVEL INFORMATION:\nTO ICELAND from the UNITED STATES: Winter is off-season. Flights are far less expensive than in the summer. Direct flights from Seattle\, New York\, Washington D.C and Boston are available on Icelandic Air as well as other carriers. You will be picked up at Reykjavik Airport (KEF). I would recommend flying in the day before the workshop begins\, if possible. We will return to Reykjavik in the late evening on the last day of the workshop\, so you may want to stay over another night before departing. (Lodging before and/or after the workshop is not included in price.) \nSpecific details will be provided upon completion of your registration. \nLODGING & ITINERARY\nSpecific details will be provided upon completion of your registration.\nIncluded: \n\nAccommodation for 5 nights\nAirport pickup and return\nFull board\n4×4 transportation\nExpert photographer guidance (Örvar Thorgeirsson & Jack Graham)\nProfessional mountain guide assistance and safety equipment for the ice caves\n\nNot included: \n\nInternational airfares\nAlcoholic beverages\nTips\nOther incidentals not mentioned as included\n\nSKILL LEVEL\nWe recommend this workshop for intermediate and advanced photographers. SUMMARY:Alaska: Landscape and Bears Photo Workshop
DESCRIPTION:PURCHASE WORKSHOP & REGISTRATIONWE’VE HAD A LATE CANCELLATION — ONE SPOT OPEN!! \nJoin Jack Graham and John Pedersen in the beautiful Katmai region of Alaska for an incredible experience photographing grizzly bears in their natural habitat as well as the Alaskan landscape. \nWe will be assisted by the best guides in the region and go to areas few others ever travel to. This wilderness area is sparsely populated. The bears rule the land here and humans have adapted to respect the bears for what they are. As a result\, the bears have little fear of humans since they are the kings in this wilderness. We will be in the ultimate location for the amazing experience of photographing these marvelous animals as they dive into the rivers to catch plentiful sockeye salmon. You’ll capture images as close as 15 to 20 feet away!  \nEach day we’ll be flown into the Alaskan wilderness by float plane (we have the best and most experienced pilots with us) and guided to the best locations. A side trip to Brooks Falls is also on our itinerary. \n \n \nJuly 2017 Alaska Workshop Scouting Trip from Jack Graham on Vimeo. \n  \nWe are limiting this trip to only eight attendees. Accommodations are double occupancy only in private cabins. Breakfast and dinner is shared at the lodge (the food is great!). Box lunches are included when we are in the field. \nEach evening we’ll download our images and provide comprehensive discussions regarding composition\, seeing images and the formulation of artful photography. In addition to getting you to the right locations\, we’ll make sure your photographic skills are developed as well.  While at our locations\, we’ll help you both technically\, developing proper field techniques and artistically\, to help bring out your best creative photography.  \nUpon registration you’ll receive a complete PDF file containing everything you need to know concerning lodging\, transportation\, etc. for this once in a lifetime experience.   \nNOTE:  ANY accommodations before or after the workshop are NOT included in the workshop cost. \nACTIVITY LEVEL: \nThe activity level for this workshop is moderate with possible field locations that may involve approximately 2-4 miles of hiking over uneven ground to the photography location. Waders and Boots are provided and included in the workshop cost.  Please be aware of this activity level before registering. If you have questions regarding your ability to be part of this experience in Alaska\, please contact my office. \nClick here if you want to know what we’ll be working on\, and click here for general information on what to bring. \n  \n  \nWORKSHOP REGISTRATION / PAYMENT FORM\nPlease complete this form and choose your credit card payment amount.  \nIf you are human\, leave this field blank.JACK GRAHAM PHOTO WORKSHOP REGISTRATION -- Alaska: Landscape & Bears -- August\, 2019\nInstructionsPlease fill out this form for all Jack Graham Photo Workshops\, Fuji “X” System Photo Workshops and Ultimate Photo Workshops.\nAll fields marked with * are required for registration \nTerms & Conditions *I have read and agree to the Jack Graham Photo Workshop Terms & Conditions and the Acknowledgement of Risk.PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT BEFORE PROCEEDING (WORKSHOP TERMS & CONDITIONS AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISK)\n\nSELECT A PAYMENT -
