Join us on our annual 4-day adventure to the waters close to Sitka AK in late March 2025 to photograph humpback whales bubble-feeding as well as an immense variety of other wildlife and breathtaking landscape opportunities.
One of the very few places on earth that one can photograph humpback whales bubble-feeding is in the nutrient rich waters close to Sitka, Alaska, in March and April. This time of year, coincides with the return of the humpbacks from wintering in Hawaii. It is an amazing time to see and photograph the whales breaching and working as a team to nourish themselves. Bubble-net feeding is a surface feeding behavior used by as many as twenty humpbacks whales at once. We’ll be out on our boat for about 8 hours per day photographing the whales and other wildlife.
Sitka is an island community surrounded by the sea and rainforests, the home to brown bears, bald eagles, Steller Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, and more wildlife that we will photograph during our time here
Lodging, meals and transportation to Sitka are not included. Our chartered boat is included in the workshop price. Each day we will board the boat to search for the whales and wildlife, along with local attractions near Sitka, returning to the hotel each late afternoon. Snacks and drinks are provided on the boat, lunches can be purchased. Our comfortable heated boat will include and & drinks, Rest room and galley, large, wrapped windows and more than adequate space outside to accommodate us for our photography.
Here are a couple of videos to show you a bit of Sitka and the surrounding area
