This workshop is now SOLD OUT. We are working on arranging another. Please contact Jack for more information.

This workshop is limited to 5 attendees.

Please consider joining us on this memorable journey to the north of Japan in winter. On this photographic adventure you are sure to experience the best of two different worlds; the beautiful Island of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost territory, and the wonderful culture of Kyoto and Tokyo.

We will be in the right places at just the right time to photograph the incredible wildlife of Japan. We’ll see the famous dancing Red-crowned Cranes, and look for the Steller’s Sea Eagles in and around Lake Akan. While in Hokkaido we’ll visit the famous Otowa Bridge, and we’ll venture to Rausu to photograph the Steller’s Sea Eagles. Landscape photography in this area of Japan is exceptional. We’ll be stressing the minimalistic style for which this area is well known.

We’ll travel to Nagano to photograph Japan’s famous and exceptionally cute snow monkeys. And, in addition to the wildlife, we’ll visit and photograph some of the temples and shrines in Hokkaido, Tokyo and Kyoto as well as one of Japan’s most beautiful temples in Nagano.

We will spend a day In Tokyo, upon arrival while getting ourselves acclimated to the time change as well as in Kyoto at the end of our trip. Detailed itineraries will be sent to you upon registration.

All skill levels are welcome. You should have a basic understanding of photography; how your cameras and lenses work and some basic concepts such as the relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO.

SUSAN MYERS
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Susan Myers has always had an eye for the world around her and a desire to explore it – both visually and physically. This desire led Susan to her current profession as a Nature Guide throughout Southeast Asia. When Susan isn’t lurking behind a tree in a forest in some remote corner of the globe, she usually has a camera in her hand and an eye on the people and places that surround her.

Susan has lived in Australia, England, the U.S. and after completing university studies in biological sciences, moved to Japan for several years, where she became fluent in the language and studied the natural history and culture. As an author, Susan penned Birds of Borneo, a field guide published by Princeton University Press and is has just published her second book about the wildlife of South East Asia.
