NOTE: These are my opinions. I have not spoken personally to anyone at NIK yet…. this is just my speculation.
I suppose this is pretty BIG NEWS ……. My guess is that they are after the mobile applications (Snapseed). I suspect they will leave the existing product line in tact and continue development of other products.
Perhaps Google might sell off the existing plug ins to Adobe etc?
What could happen is pricing might go up. I have no indication of this and is only my opinion.
If you have been thinking about buying these great plug ins, you might want to buy them before anything changes in the event it does.

Jack,
curious on why you think prices will go up on Nik plug-ins?
Michael… Thins for the note… I said they might go up .. just my opinion. I think some of their plug ins are under priced ( like HDR EFEX PRO2) for what they deliver. just my $0.02 !
Regards,
Jack
Jack, I’ve only once, briefly, sampled a couple of Nik plug-ins in the past, so I can’t say that they are either under or over priced, but what about being purchased by Google would have anything to do with being under-priced? I would think that Nik software would have figured that out themselves and maybe could have “prevented” from being purchased in the first place perhaps 🙂
Of course…pricing has nothing to do with the sale to Google, but how knows–I’d love to know what the purchase price was!. Let’s hope everything stays the same and NIK continues to product really good products.
My concern is the quality of the product going forward not the price.
Time will tell…. but Google is very photographer friendly and I think that things might even become better? Let’s hope for the best. The folks at NIK are really good folks.
